At the Kishorit pottery studio, members work with clay to create handmade ceramics. It is a workplace, but an unhurried one \u2014 members learn the craft, work at their own pace, and see each piece through from raw clay to a finished object they have made themselves. <\/p>\n\n

Pottery offers a great deal to the members who work here. Shaping clay strengthens fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, and it calls for patience and steady concentration. It is also calming, absorbing work, and there is a real sense of achievement in holding a finished piece you have made with your own hands. <\/p>\n\n

The studio is a sociable place as well. Members work side by side, share skills and encouragement, and friendships grow out of the work. Their finished pieces are proudly displayed in the studio and sold at the Kishorit Shop \u2014 among them ceramic candle warmers, made to melt the natural wax melts from Kishorit\u2019s own soap workshop. <\/p>\n\n
